I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy and counselling. I have extensive experience worked in a variety of therapy settings, including NHS Primary and Secondary Care Psychotherapy and Counselling Services and the University of Oxford Counselling Service. Through the voluntary sector I also have experience in supporting new parents.

I offer a warm and reflective approach to think together about your difficulties and hopes. My work takes account of the role of conscious and unconscious (or deeper underlying), thoughts and feelings.

I completed my clinical training, culminating in a Master's in Psychodynamic Practice, at the University of Oxford. I have published my research into aspects of the therapeutic relationship in the British Journal of Guidance and Counselling.

I also have a PhD in English Literature, and previous experience working in academia, and so I am well placed support those in the academic community, both staff and students. I am also interested in connections between creativity, the arts and psychotherapy.

I am an accredited member of the British Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BACP).

ABOUT PSYCHOTHERAPY
Learn About My Methods

Psychotherapy and counselling can help you to understand and resolve your problems by increasing awareness of your inner world, and helping you to process feelings around losses, trauma and emotional challenges that you may have faced. It also offers a safe space in which you can be heard and supported without judgement. I offer a reflective approach to think together with you in depth about aspects of yourself and your life which may be troubling you to help work towards deep change in emotional development. I take account of conscious and unconscious feelings and thoughts, fears and hopes. Psychodynamic therapy works to identify and understand underlying thoughts and feelings. Gaining this awareness and processing theses feelings together can help to change deep-seated emotional and relationship difficulties.

I usually work at a frequency with clients of once or twice per week. I also sometimes offer fortnightly sessions. Sometimes it can be helpful to work at the more intensive frequency of twice per week; I follow the client's lead on this choice.
